Middle School

Sixth Through Eighth Grade Curriculum Overview

The Our Lady of Sorrows middle school is designed to challenge and support students during these middle years as they prepare for high school, university and beyond. With a structure designed to foster independence, responsibility, and leadership, our 6th through 8th grade standards-based curriculum goes above and beyond what is required by the state. On average, 92% of OLS graduates continue on to accredited Catholic high schools, where they are consistently recognized as highly qualified and well-prepared.

The middle school curriculum includes Religion, Science, English, Literature, History, and a range of math options including Algebra Concepts, Algebra, Honors Algebra, and Introductory Geometry. Daily electives expand learning through courses such as Art (2-D & 3-D), Spanish I & II, Music, Theater, Robotics, Health, Life Skills, Study Skills, Speech, and Physical Education.

Students experience a true junior high structure with:

  • Beginning and end of day homeroom

  • Individual class schedules and student lockers

  • Daily advisor periods for homework help and mentoring

  • A dedicated Family Discipleship program supporting youth group and Sacrament preparation

  • Curriculum-enhancing class trips for grades 6–8

Our students thrive both in and out of the classroom. Christian service and community involvement are integral to the OLS experience. Middle school students actively participate in service projects, learning to live their faith and make a positive impact on the world around them.
