Elementary School

First Through Fifth Grade Curriculum Overview

Our elementary school curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire students as they grow in independence and discover their God-given gifts.  Elementary students in grades 1–5 experience a core curriculum complimented by “specials” that offer the student an opportunity to explore art, music, physical education, technology, library, and more.  It is a standards-based curriculum that exceeds state requirements.

Teachers use a variety of materials, including hand-on experiences, up-to-date textbooks, modern technology, projects, and field experiences, to help students engage with the standards in a well-organized and developmentally appropriate way. The philosophy of education includes a differentiated approach to instruction with a special emphasis placed on students reaching their individual potential.

Technology is integrated into each classroom allowing teachers to access global information on the most current and successful trends in teaching. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard, iPad and Apple TV device, a Chromebook cart and has access to a mini-iPad cart. Upper elementary students complete assignments in Google Classroom, developing the technology skills essential for middle school.

Recognizing that parents are critical partners in this process, the elementary curriculum includes common assessments and standards-based report cards (grades 1 and 2 only) to facilitate communication between home and school. Our curriculum supports the students’ academic, spiritual, and social growth, while promoting Christian values every hour, every day.
