What is Scrip?
Scrip is gift card based fundraising. Scrip gift cards are the same gift cards that you would normally purchase from a retailer in your local retail stores, and they work in the exact same way.
There are Hundreds of participating retailers. In fact you will find over 500 different card that you can use in place of cash at grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, movie theaters, home improvement stores, etc. Virtually anywhere you shop will accept one or more forms of Scrip. There are many ways to purchase these cards and the money saved benefits not only OLS but OLS families too.
How Scrip Works for you.
The Great Lakes Scrip Center purchases large amounts of gift cards for use by non-profit organizations like OLS. The volume of orders allows them to get a discount from each vendor which is then transferred to a rebate value for each card. Families order gift cards from OLS Scrip Coordinators at face value. Each Card is assigned a rebate value. The rebate value is based on the savings discount from each vendor. That rebate value is then split 50/50 between the OLS PTG and you. You will receive your half of the rebate value the first week of June.
